## What is Cybersecurity Awareness Month?
October marks the 21st year of [Cybersecurity Awareness Month](https://staysafeonline.org/), an international initiative dedicated to educating everyone—from young digital users to large multinational enterprises—about protecting their digital footprint. As technology becomes more intertwined with our everyday lives, the risks have grown as well, making cybersecurity more critical than ever. Cybersecurity Awareness Month serves as a reminder that everyone has a role in securing our online world.
## Why Cybersecurity Awareness Month Matters
This year, Cybersecurity Awareness Month is more important than ever. With large-scale data breaches making headlines and cybercriminals continuously refining their tactics, it's clear that protecting personal and business data must be a top priority. The initiative aims to bring awareness to these threats and offers actionable steps for reducing online risks.
The 2024 theme, Secure Our World, emphasizes that cybersecurity is not just a concern for IT professionals—everyone plays a part. Daily habits, such as safeguarding passwords or staying alert for phishing attempts, can significantly reduce the chances of a security breach.

This year’s campaign highlights four critical areas where individuals and organizations alike can take action:
